Frankfurt es una de las ciudades más grandes de Alemania y la más grande del estado al que pertenece que se llama Hessen. Además, es un centro económico y financiero importante en Europa. Debido a que ahí se encuentra el Banco Central Europeo se le considera la capital económica y financiera de la Unión Europea.
Frankfurt se encuentra a orillas del río Main. Su ubicación central dentro de Alemania y Europa lo convierte en un importante centro de transporte aéreo, ferroviario y por carretera.
La ciudad cuenta con numerosos puentes en los cuáles la gente cuelga sus candados como símbolo de su amor, así como numerosos rascacielos, calles de tiendas para ir de compras, museos, restaurantes, bares. Además, Frankfurt se caracteriza por la sede de importantes ferias y exposiciones como la feria del libro.
